Portugal Walk map 69

"I want to take a walk around the world, I wonder if it would do me any good." I was listening to an inspiring interview about recovery with the writer Grey PVC on Dopey podcast. After the interview the theme song for the podcast came on beggining with the sentence in this flag. As a song about recovery I found it so perfect because that's really the feeling you have, you just want to leave and transform and start a new life but it's so hard. The chorus of the song goes "I want to be good so bad...that desire is all I ever had" which is just such a perfect and poetic description of how I felt when I was using. You want to feel good again, but more so you just want to be a good person again, to not be trapped in this selfish way of existence any more .
This is map piece #69 from my current walk, a 350 mile walk across Portugal. The piece is my art done on a map page used for the walk. The map goes with me on the walk and guides me and contains the walk in the dirt, rain , sweat or whatever accumulates on it from the road. I find it special for that reason. The sentence I come up with or find on the walk and graffiti it on the walk. The piece is made on the road, on the walk. My aim with my art is to give a piece of the walk through my art and I do believe that is accomplished because of the aspects of the art previously mentioned. Another part of the art is that the selling of the art is what enables me to further walk. In my mind that is part of the art, the way everything goes together. The walking feeds the thinking which creates the sentences and I do my art on the road doing what I love and the art helps me to keep going and doing what I love.
The thick red line on the Piece is the path I walked.
The map is printed on high quality 250g paper. And the art is done with alcohol based and acrylic markers.
